Flight Controller for Industrial Applications
Status: Research and Development
Openflyworld is researching a flight-control platform for industrial applications, with a focus on sensing, redundancy and operation in cold and vibration-prone environments.
Our development priorities include:
- Advanced Sensors
Evaluate newer sensor technologies to improve measurement quality and support more demanding applications. - Separate Barometer Board with Heating
Develop a dedicated barometer board with a heating function to stabilize its operating temperature and improve pressure-measurement consistency in cold conditions. - Expanded Redundancy
Explore additional redundancy in critical components, together with monitoring and fault-handling methods. - Protective Enclosure and Vibration Isolation
Develop an enclosure with integrated vibration-isolation measures to reduce vibration transmitted to sensitive components and provide physical protection.
These features are under development. Their effectiveness, operating limits and final specifications will be established through testing and validation.
AI and Companion Computer Integration
Status: Research and Development
Openflyworld is exploring the integration of flight controllers with onboard computers and AI software to support industry-specific functions.
Using companion-computer platforms such as Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA Jetson, this project focuses on processing camera and sensor data onboard, while the flight controller manages real-time flight control.
Development areas include:
- AI-Based Visual Analysis
Explore image-processing and object-detection models for application-specific tasks. - Onboard Sensor Data Processing
Combine data from connected sensors to provide information relevant to the intended application. - Mission Software Integration
Develop communication between AI applications, mission software and the flight controller. - Industry-Specific Functions
Adapt hardware and software to defined operational requirements, including inspection, monitoring and data collection.
The project is in the research and development stage. Functions, supported hardware and performance will depend on the application and will require system-level testing and validation.
